How was the religion of the Sumerians different from the religion of the Israelites (Hebrews)? Make sure to include key beliefs from both groups. Your answer should be about a paragraph (5 sentences) in length, including a topic sentence, detailed sentences, and a conclusion.
A good answer would include some of the following terms with explanation:
Polytheism, monotheism, Judaism (Jewish), Israelites (Hebrews), Sumerians, Torah

Answers

The Hebrews were monotheists who believed in only one god, while the Sumerians and Egyptians believed in many gods (they were polytheists).

Hebrews only believed in one god whereas the Sumerians believed in multiple gods. Sumerians worshiped the gods in ziggurats, and Hebrews followed the ten (commandments?). Hebrews we’re Jewish people, and followed the Torah. Sumerians we’re polytheistic, and Hebrews we’re monotheists. Hope it helps! Around 1805, only a few years after Conrad’s discovery, newspapers began reporting on gold-mining activities and people coming into the area to search for gold. William Thornton, of Baltimore, Maryland, designer of the United States Capitol, was one of these seekers. After learning of the gold, he purchased thirty-five thousand acres of land in Montgomery (now Stanly) County and formed the North Carolina Gold Mine Company. By 1806, investors in this company included a former governor of Maryland and the treasurer of the United States.

PLS HELP Colonial America was a multicultural society of people from many different ethnic backgrounds, including American Indians, Africans, and Europeans of many nationalities. How did the colonists deal with these differences? How were different groups treated? What kind of ideas do you think help different groups get along? What kind of ideas may hurt them? (I WILL GIVE YOU A THANK AND BRAINIEST DO NOT COPY OTHER PEOPLES WORK!!!!)

Answers

Answer: I think the American Indians, Africans, and Europeans were treated badly because of their race. They dealt with these differences by having a war to settle the differences they had between each other. It would've been good if they had gotten along because the Indians had many good ideas, but they didn't get along because they had different ideas and argued.

Explanation:

Answer:

Society and culture in colonial America varied widely among ethnic and social groups, and from colony to colony, but was mostly centered around agriculture as it was the primary venture in most regions. While New England had small family farms, the southern colonies had large plantations that required slave labor. Religion also played a major role in shaping some local cultures; many people who colonized North America were fleeing religious persecution in their home country and implemented strict religious-based rules in the colonies where they settled.

Colonists dealt with African's and American Indians really badly. Africans in colonial America held very little social or political power, their contributions not only supported the Southern colonies but led to their eventual prosperity. However, the Africans' status in the United States slowly deteriorated over the course of the century, as colonies slowly added laws to permit slavery and restrict the rights of Africans. While slavery existed in every colony at one time or another, it was the economic structure of farming in the South that depended on slave labor to prosper. As enslaved people became more and more in demand in the South, the slave trade that spanned from Africa to the colonies became a source of economic wealth as well. Working long hours, living in crude conditions, and suffering abuses from their owners, African captives faced harsh conditions in colonial America. None of the colonies outlawed slavery prior to the Revolutionary War.

During the colonial period, Native Americans had a complicated relationship with European settlers. They resisted the efforts of the Europeans to gain more of their land and control through both warfare and diplomacy. But problems arose for the Native Americans, which held them back from their goal, including new diseases, the slave trade, and the ever-growing European population in North America. as European nations scrambled to claim the already occupied land in the “New World,” some leaders formed alliances with Native American nations to fight foreign powers. Some famous alliances were formed during the French and Indian War of 1754–1763. Native Americans were also vulnerable during the colonial era because they had never been exposed to European diseases, like smallpox, so they didn’t have any immunity to the disease, as some Europeans did. The illnesses decimated the Native Americans—by some estimates killing as much as 90 percent of their population. With the population sick and decreasing, it became more and more difficult to mount an opposition to European expansion. Another aspect of the colonial era that made the Native Americans vulnerable was the slave trade. Native Americans allied with the losing side were often indentured or enslaved. Native Americans would only get worse in the 19th century, leading to greater confinement and the extermination of native people. Unfortunately, the colonial era was neither the start nor the end of the long, dark history of the treatment of Native Americans by Europeans.

The majority of colonists were Europeans so in Colonial America Europeans were treated the best as they were much of the population, they also had rule over Africans and Native Americans.

The groups most of the time did not get along because they all had different ideas and because Native Americans Believed their land was stolen from them. But an idea that hurt them was enslaving people of color, this started fights against the people of color and the Europeans. In the end, the Europeans had full control over them

By now, you should be able to identify the background and purpose of the Bill of Rights and explain why it is still important today. Without it, Americans would not be free to speak, worship, or do many other things. When the first Congress of the United States wrote these 10 amendments to the Constitution, they set the ground rules for many of the freedoms that American people continue to enjoy. Other amendments to the Constitution have been added over the years. The newest amendments provide more rights to citizens and set up rules that the government must follow.

In a recent poll, less than 10 percent of American adults knew why the Bill of Rights was written! Something must be done to inform people, and you are just the person to do it. You will take on the role of someone who has recently been granted U.S. citizenship. Use your imagination to create your own name and story.

Answers

Hello, I'm { name}. Today I'm here to tell you about why the bill of rights was written. The Main reason of  Creation was the amendments, known as the Bill of Rights, were designed to protect the basic rights of U.S. citizens, guaranteeing the freedom of speech, press, assembly, and exercise of religion; the right to fair legal procedure and to bear arms; and that powers not delegated to the federal government were reserved for the states. Bills of right is important because they put limits on the national government's right to control specific civil liberties and rights, many of which were already protected by some of the state constitutions. Liberties protected included freedom of speech, press, religion, and assembly (1st Amendment). As citizens we are extremely lucky to have this document to protect and ensure us all of our freedoms and rights. Thomas Jefferson once said, “A Bill of Rights is what the people are entitled to against every government, and what no just government should refuse, or rest on inference.” This perfectly outlines the importance of the Bill of Rights and its role in America. As a citizen, the Bill of Rights has a huge affect on me daily. As citizens we are extremely lucky to have this document to protect and ensure us all of our freedoms and rights. Perhaps the most famous section of the Bill of Rights is the First Amendment. This right is so important, because it protects our rights to speech, press, petition, religion, and assembly. Especially as a young adult just starting to explore my political views the freedom of speech is very significant. Freedom of speech gives me the protection and security to say whatever my opinions are, regardless of how the president or the governor or anyone thinks. I am not afraid to speak out against how things are, because thanks to the freedom of speech and the Bill of the Rights I know that I am protected to say my mind. This freedom is extended even farther when we as citizens are granted the right to petition and assemble. These two freedoms are important because if I wanted to, I could organize some event, in order to try to create a change.  The Fourth Amendment:This amendment is so crucial in my life, because it protects me from any unlawful search and seizure. This guarantees my privacy I have as a citizen. While I do not have anything to hide, this amendment affects my life, because I know I can live in piece of mind, where I am not worried about anyone going through any of my personal belongings. The piece of mind allows me to live a normal life without a fear of having to hide something just because I do not want a person to find it.The Second Amendment allows the freedom to bear arms. Although I am against personally using a gun, it is good to know that if ever necessary, I could protect myself. Thirdly, the Bill of Rights grants that soldiers may not be quartered without consent. This does not apply to today very well, but it’s an important protection that should still be appreciated. The Fourth Amendment protects from unreasonable search and seizure. I have never been, nor ever hope to be, suspected of a crime, so this is not entirely applicable to me but it affects me in that I am protected from random searches. The Ninth Amendment recognizes the other rights that we possess and grants that the Constitution will not restrict these rights. This gives me the freedom to choose where I go to college, what I do on my Saturday nights, and where I get my groceries. The Bill of Rights, which may not entirely apply to my life at this time, gives freedoms that allow me to live a life that is led by me, not an overbearing government.Overall, the Bill of Rights’ significance is so great, that many citizens do not realize how much it protects.

Religion among the Slaves

Next to the family, religion was the most important feature of slave life in the quarters. A deep faith and hope of deliverance sustained the slaves during their long years of bondage. On most plantations, slaves went to church with the white people. Then, after formal services in the white church, slaves usually conducted their own religious ceremonies called praise meetings. Those activities took place in the quarters and were attended only by the slaves.

In the praise meetings, slaves were free to express their innermost feelings through their songs, chants, spirituals, and dances—many of which were African in origin. Slaves were unrestrained at those times. They often acted out their deepest anxieties, frustrations, and anger in tribal dances, accompanied by the rhythmic chanting and clapping of other slaves. These ceremonies were an escape for slaves and enabled them to “let off steam” that might otherwise have been expressed in some form of violence. These religious activities also enabled slaves to preserve some of the cultural features of their African heritage.

Write 4-5 sentences

Answers

Answer:

[A speedy removal] will relieve the whole State of Mississippi and the western part of Alabama of Indian occupancy, and enable those States to advance rapidly in population, wealth, and power. It will separate the Indians from immediate contact with settlements of whites; free them from the power of the States; enable them to pursue happiness in their own way and under their own rude institutions; will [slow down] the progress of decay, which is lessening their numbers, and perhaps cause them gradually, under the protection of the Government and through the influence of good counsels, to cast off their savage habits and become an interesting, civilized, and Christian community. . . . The consequences of a speedy removal will be important to the United States, to individual States, and to the Indians themselves. . . . It will place a dense and civilized population in large tracts of country now occupied by a few savage hunters.

–President Andrew Jackson, 1830

Explanation:

In 1830 Henry Clay, one of the most prominent members of the House of Representatives, spoke out against American Indian removal. In this speech, he quotes from an 1814 statement by the US government that says American Indians have a legal right to their lands and are not subject to US laws. The United States stand charged with the fate of those poor children of the woods, in the face of their common Maker, and in presence of the world. And as certain as the guardian is answerable for the education of his infant [child], and the management of his estate, will they be responsible here and hereafter. . . . “The Indians [living] within the United States are so far independent that they live under their own customs, and not under the laws of the United States; that their rights upon the lands where they inhabit or hunt are secured to them by boundaries defined in [friendly] treaties between the United States and themselves; and that whenever those boundaries [are changed, they will] receive from the United States ample [payment] for . . . the land ceded by them.”

Clay had remarked that he believed Native Americans were a lower form of life who could never merge with the American people, but Jackson claimed that removal would "incalculably strengthen the southwestern frontier."

Compare and contrast Henry Clay's and Andrew Jackson's positions on the expulsion of American Indians.

In a speech to Congress, President Andrew Jackson discusses the expulsion of Native Americans. He shared the viewpoint of the majority of politicians of the day that the rights of independent white farmers should take precedence over those of American Indians.

Jackson also understood that, regardless of the agreements made in treaties, European settlers would continue to settle on American Indian territories as the population of the nation increased, which would probably result in conflict. Jackson believed that moving west was best for American Indians.

Henry Clay, one of the most notable members of the House of Representatives, stood out against the deportation of Indians in 1830.

He uses a statement from the US government from 1814 that claims American Indians have a legal claim to their lands and are not subject to US laws in this address.

the incorporation doctrine has been used to apply the bill of rights to the states and not just to the federal government. Explain how the Incorporation Doctrine serves to safeguard individual rights. Give examples of freedoms it protects and at least one specific example of when it has been used.

Answers

Answer:

The incorporation doctrine is a constitutional doctrine through which the first ten amendments of the United States Constitution (known as the Bill of Rights) are made applicable to the states through the Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Incorporation applies both substantively and procedurally. Prior to the doctrine's (and the Fourteenth Amendment's) existence, the Bill of Rights applied only to the Federal Government and to federal court cases. States and state courts could choose to adopt similar laws, but were under no obligation to do so.

After the passage of the Fourteenth Amendment, the Supreme Court favored a process called “selective incorporation.” Under selective incorporation, the Supreme Court would incorporate certain parts of certain amendments, rather than incorporating an entire amendment at once.

Some argue that Privileges or Immunities Clause is a more appropriate textual basis than the due process clause for incorporation of the Bill of Rights but because Slaughter-House Cases dealing with this clause are surrounded by controversy this theory is not supported by the majority of the court.
