Using the excerpts from the Story of My Life by Helen Keller and Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, compare and contrast the themes presented by the authors.
Answer: There are some similarities to the central idea in the passages. Both narrators want to learn. Both narrators faced hard times, but still managed to overcome their obstacles. Helen and Frederick learned even though it was a task that was very hard to accomplish. There are also some differences to the central idea in the passages. Helen Keller is blind and deaf and Frederick Douglass is a slave. Helen is being encouraged to learn while Frederick is being discouraged to learn to read. Frederick always wanted to learn to read and write while Helen had a brief time where she didn’t want to learn. Helen had one teacher who worked with her every day. Frederick had many teachers. He started learning from his mistress and when she stopped, Frederick went out and learned from anyone he could find who was willing to teach him. Helen learned by having the words traced in her hands. Frederick learned to read by starting with the sounds of the alphabet

Something really upsetting happened at Fabric Mart today. Laura Clarkson was showing me how to complete a refund transaction, and I asked her a respectful (I thought) question about why the company does it that way. She got all snippy with me and said “Never mind, I’ll just do it myself.” There were no customers around, but some of the other employees heard her. She even made eye contact with Liz Mendoza and rolled her eyes. I felt really hurt and shocked by Laura’s tone. It’s not like I was trying to be rude to her or anything. All I want is to understand the process, and it helps me to ask why. Besides, the company says it is open to new ideas, and maybe there was a quicker, easier way to process a refund, I don’t know. If I don’t ask questions, how do I find things out? But she acted like I was either trying to get out of doing it, or criticizing her expertise, or something. I know she doesn’t have an attitude like that when our boss is around. In fact, she acts really cool if Fran is there. I tried to tell Laura that I would be happy to practice doing the refund her way, but she said “Never mind,” again, all huffy. Then she ignored me the rest of the day. I mean, how am I going to learn how to do basic stuff at Fabric Mart if I can’t get her to answer my questions because she is offended for some reason I can’t figure out? To make it worse, after work in the break room she loudly (and I mean in a really loud voice) announced that she was going to Sushi City for happy hour. Then she looked at each individual person

Which of the following steps should come before the others listed here in writing an illustration paragraph?
A.
choose examples that the readers can identify with
C.
develop a concluding statement
D.
develop a topic sentence
Before selecting examples, a writer must know what the controlling idea of the paragraph will be.
What should appear at the top of every journal entry?
A.
the date
C.
the entry number
D.
your instructor's name
Explanation: The most important entry for a journal is the date, so that you know when the entry was added and what time during your life the entry relates to. While the entry number would help keep the entries organized and in order, it is not entirely necessary if you also have the entry date. Choice D also doesn't make any sense, because who is this instructor and why is that even a choice? So choice A, the entry date is what should appear at the top of every journal entry.
Technically the answer could be both A and C, as both are a good idea to add to each journal, but if you could only choose one answer, it would have to be choice A, the entry date, because it already goes through chronological order. Hope this helps!
ALICE IN WONDERLAND/ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS
Do you think the novels and the play have the same audience in mind? What ages do you think the playwright and the novelist had in mind when developing their works?
Answer:
In all honesty I think this is supposed to be an opinion problem, so what do you think the general audience would be for a book, compared to the movie. Are they the same, different? What is the age group- well what audience is it made to, a younger generation like 8-15 or an older one 16+ .
Explanation:
brailnies pls
Answer: The primary audience for the novels is young children. Carroll wrote the books to entertain his friend’s children. The stories are silly and have outrageous characters. However, even older kids and adults can enjoy the story because it is very entertaining.I think the playwright wrote the play for adults and children. Kids and adults would find the play fun to watch. This is true because of the absurdity of the way characters act in Wonderland and the playful way in which they make up words. Adults may also like the play because they read the books when they were children.
Explanation:brainleist pls I would appreciate that:)

THE PARAGRAGH!!!
Everyone has heard the adage "Laughter is the best medicine." Researchers are finding that writing about one’s feelings can be effective medicine, too. People have been recording their feelings in diaries for centuries. Recent studies, though, suggest that such writing not only improves a person’s mood; it can also have a significant influence on their physical condition. Therefore, physicians should incorporate patient journaling as part of their treatment for any complaint or disease.
It is true that not all people benefit from diary-writing. Studies are still exploring how individual differences influence the health-related effectiveness of writing. It is also true that not all writing benefits a person's health. For example, it's not enough to simply write, "I feel bad" or "I hurt." To gain any health benefit, the writing must be expressive. In other words, a person must explore their feelings instead of only stating them. They must write sentences that begin along the lines of "I feel sad because..." This is the type of writing, often called journaling, that can improve one's health.
One way journaling improves health is by reducing stress and anxiety. Brain science has determined that each side of the human brain has different strengths. The left brain is rational and analytical. The right brain functions as a creative and emotional center. Journaling about stressful or anxious situations accesses the right brain. Doing so enables a person to clarify feelings and solve problems. Consistent journaling also helps the writer discover patterns of thought and behavior. According to Richard Petty, a professor of psychology at Ohio State University, "However you tag your thoughts—as trash or as worthy of protection—seems to make a difference in how you use those thoughts." Expressive writing can help not only identify but also change the way a person tags their thoughts. A 2011 study conducted in Spain, for example, found that writing helped teens get rid of negative thoughts. In the study, teens wrote down their negative thoughts about their bodies. This cleared the thoughts from their minds. Then they threw away what they wrote. As a result, the teens felt less stress and anxiety about their appearances.
Research suggests that journaling can also improve a person's physical well-being. It has proven to be particularly beneficial to people who have chronic diseases, such as asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease characterized by swelling in the joints. In one study, psychologists at the University of Texas at Austin asked patients to write expressively for twenty minutes a day for three consecutive days. In a medical check-up four months later, those patients had fewer and less severe symptoms. The control group, which had the same disease but did not write expressively, did not show such improvement.
In addition to reducing symptoms of existing diseases, expressive writing can also strengthen the body's ability to fight off disease. A person's immune system is responsible for fighting off viruses and other causes of illness. Doctors in New Zealand found that journaling strengthened immune function in patients with immune system disease. Another study linked journaling to a stronger response to a vaccine for a type of blood disease called Hepatitis B. The stronger response means the body will be more effective in fighting off the illness.
Journaling, therefore, can improve one's physical and emotional health. Further research is necessary to solidify how and why expressive writing has such an impact. Nevertheless, it is an option that all medical professionals should consider. Although journaling is not a replacement for traditional treatment methods such as therapy and medication, it is a supplemental tool to improve the effects of that treatment. It is not out of the question, then, to imagine a day when doctors might instruct a patient to "write two paragraphs and call me in the morning."
QUESTION!!!
Read the sentence below, which states the claim of the argument.
Therefore, physicians should incorporate patient journaling as part of their treatment for any complaint or disease.
Which of the following sentences is evidence that the author uses to support the claim?

B
“Journaling about stressful or anxious situations accesses the right brain.”
C
“In addition to reducing symptoms of existing diseases, expressive writing can also strengthen the body's ability to fight off disease.”
D
“Another study linked journaling to a stronger response to a vaccine for a type of blood disease called Hepatitis B.”

The Haunted Forest
Once upon a time there was a family, made up of two young ones and their parents, traveling by road to road. One day the car broke down in the forest. The parents went out to get help, and so the children would not get bored, they left them with the radio on. It turned night time and the parents still did not return. Then suddenly they heard the disturbing news go on in the radio: A very dangerous killer had escaped from a prison near the forest. Hours passed and the children's parents did not come back. Suddenly, they began to hear something really loud. ¨Bang, Bang, Bang¨. They heard that which seemed to come from something hitting the top of the car. Then, the sound became louder and louder every time. ¨BANG, BANG, BANG¨. The terrified children could no longer resist. They opened the door and ran in a hurry. Only the eldest of the children dared to turn his head to see what caused the loud noise. He should have not done it though, there was a large and scary man on top of the car, who hit the top of the vehicle with something on his hands, they were the heads of his parents! The children began to run even faster and the large man began to run towards them. The children ran into the forest and so did the large man. After that day no one ever saw those children ever again, and who knows, they may appear mysteriously next to you.

The universe will consume all that it has created. Matter itself will stop moving, all energy will cease to exist. All that will ever exist and have ever existed will be destroyed. The infinite matter will recombine creating another big bang, and subsequently, a new universe. A universe without knowledge of us, likely there were infinitely many before us that we could never know. But don't feel bad, you won't do anything substantial anyways!

MRS. PRINGLE: The Prince of Wales! Oh! What wouldn’t I give to have the Prince of Wales in my house! New York has lost its heart to him. I was just telling Mr. Farnsworth yesterday that I’d give anything to have the Prince here. I would establish my social position for life! And I’ve such a reputation for being a wonderful hostess.
