Answers

Meaning of "All the King’s Horses" by Karmina

The song "All the King's Horses" by Karmina is about resilience, self-determination, and the ability to pick oneself up and move forward despite the obstacles one may face in life. The lyrics detail a situation where the protagonist is down on their luck and feeling very discouraged, but ultimately decides to find their own strength to rebuild and get back on track. The phrase "all the king's horses and all the king's men" is used as a metaphor to show that no one and nothing else (not even a powerful king and his staff) can help the protagonist put themselves back together again, and that they must find the strength within themselves to do so.
All the King's Horses" is a song about trying to fix a broken relationship that has been damaged beyond repair. The lyrics suggest that no matter how hard one tries to fix things, sometimes it just can't be done, and the best thing to do is to let go and move on. It is a sad and emotional song about the pain of letting go of something that was once cherished

They begin to accuse each other of being extraterrestrial invaders, and they finally begin to damage property and get violent. This demonstrates how fear and panic may produce illogical behaviour and turn individuals against one another, making them their own worst enemies. Over the last two days, DeShawn's service team had missed the connecting buses from the work site—twice. This resulted in the group walking an extra four miles through the rain forest, which wouldn't have been a big deal if they had not been working in the hot Guatemalan sun all day. After all, DeShawn and the other team members from Philadelphia were hard workers with good attitudes, but they were just not used to the physical labors of construction.
"How far until we come to the road?" Precious asked the team leader.
Marcus scanned the surroundings. "I would say we have about a mile and a half left," he said.
DeShawn groaned. When his grandmother had told him about the service trip, she mentioned that it would be hard work helping build large storage sheds in Guatemala—but this? Trudging through the rain forest after working all day was just a bit too much for DeShawn.
All of a sudden, a low growling sound permeated the forest. WOOOH-EEE WOOOOO-EEE
"Whaaaat's that?" Precious asked.
Marcus smiled. "Not to worry," he said. "That's the sound of the Guatemalan black howler. They live here. I'm surprised we didn't hear any yesterday as we passed through—they're usually active around dusk."
The howling grew louder. WOOH-EEE WOOOOO-EEE.
"Um," stammered DeShawn. "What is a black howler?"
"Follow me!" said Marcus. "I'll show you."
With trepidation, the group followed their fearless guide until he stopped and pointed up into the trees.
There—perched in a Cacao tree—sat a large black monkey.
"A black howler is a plant eating monkey. The males howl to find mates and defend territory," Marcus said. "Hope he didn't scare you too much."

Which sentence provides the best introduction for the narrative?
A.
DeShawn was not interested in helping build shelters in Guatemala, but he decided to go on the trip anyway.
B.
DeShawn wiped the sweat from his brow and stumbled down the muddy path as he wondered why on Earth he ever agreed to go on this trip.
C.

2 The Johnson Space Center was established in 1961 as the Manned Spaceflight Center. It was the home and Mission Control Center for the U.S. human spaceflight program. In 1973, it was renamed in honor of the late President, and Texas native, Lyndon B. Johnson. The Johnson Center's complex occupies 1,620 acres of land southeast of downtown Houston. The spacecraft from which six astronauts descended to the surface of the Moon had the same design as LTA-8. Their Lunar Modules acted as their base while on the Moon. Later, it helped them return to the Lunar Orbit when their stay was over. The Apollo 13 Lunar Module acted as a lifeboat after that flight's Service Module was damaged. It helped the crew return safely to Earth.
5 NASA's robots called Robonauts are also designed at the Johnson Space Center. One such robot is currently at the International Space Station. The Space Vehicle Mockup Facility in Building 9 at the space center is a good place to see the Robonauts. Some tours let people see the inside of the building from above. Dog Training Me?
by Bryan Ellett

My new dog is a mutt, or a mix of breeds, most likely a mix between a basset hound and a beagle. No one knows for sure, though. His name is Capote, and he is a really attractive dog, small but sturdy. He has great posture and always looks proud, sticking his chest out slightly and standing tall. There is only one problem, but it’s a big problem: he won’t fetch.

Actually, it’s worse than that. Not only will he not fetch, he’s making me play his game! I throw the ball, and Capote goes running after it, as if fetch is the thing in the world he most enjoys. He begins bringing the ball back to me, but then he runs right past me. I follow him, reaching for the ball and trying to pull it out of his mouth, but he keeps turning away from me, teasing me with the ball! He’s not playing fetch; he’s playing “come chase me!” And he’s training me to do it, too!

Once I realized this, I read some books, and I’ve changed my strategy. If he runs past me with the ball, I don’t follow him, and I don’t reach for the ball. Instead, I turn my back on him and ignore him. He really does like to play, so me ignoring him is a tremendous punishment! Eventually, he’ll bring the ball over to me, and once he does, I immediately throw it. That way, he knows that he’ll be rewarded with another throw if he brings me the ball. He is not a perfect fetch player yet, but I can now tell that one day he will be!

Which statement is supported by the story?

how was the colonists motleys punished for the Boston tea party

Answers

The Coercive (or Intolerable) Acts were introduced by the British Parliament in April 1774 as retaliation against Massachusetts for the Tea Party incident.

Briefing:-

The Acts not only denied Massachusetts its right to self-government but also mandated that all Americans board British troops in empty buildings.

What resulted from the Boston Tea Party?

The Boston Tea Party compelled Britain's Parliament to exercise its power, and in 1774, it did so by passing the Intolerable Acts. Boston's harbor was shut down until the tea debt was paid, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was downgraded to a royal colony with appointed authorities rather than elected ones, and troops were allowed to be quartered across British North America in abandoned buildings. The actions later in 1774 served as the rationale for calling the First Continental Congress.

Use the link below to watch the Friends episode in which Joey employs several logical fallacies in an effort to convince his friends to give him money for a new fridge. Then identify ONE of logical fallacies the he uses, making sure to explain the logical fallacy, how he uses it, and why it is logically flawed support for his argument (that they should help pay for the new fridge). Your answer should be at least one well-developed paragraph long.

Answers

The Friends episode you are referring to is called "The One with the Lottery" from season nine. In this episode, Joey tries to convince his friends to lend him money so that he can buy a new refrigerator.

What is the fallacy about?

One of the logical fallacies that Joey employs is called "Appeal to Pity" or "Ad Misericordiam." This fallacy is when someone tries to win an argument by making the other person feel sorry for them, rather than by presenting a logical case.

Joey uses this fallacy when he tells his friends about the sorry state of his old fridge, which has been making strange noises and causing him to lose food. He tries to appeal to their emotions and make them feel sorry for him, hoping that they will lend him the money he needs.

However, just because Joey's fridge is in bad shape, it doesn't necessarily mean that his friends should lend him money. It's important to evaluate the logical merits of an argument, rather than simply giving in to emotional appeals.
