When Gatsby changes his social role, he becomes more confident and charming, but also more desperate and dishonest. He throws extravagant parties and spends his wealth lavishly in an attempt to impress Daisy and prove his worth to her. However, his obsession with her blinds him to the reality of their situation and he becomes consumed by his own illusion.

As a reader, I found Gatsby's transformation to be both fascinating and tragic. On one hand, his determination and resilience are admirable, but on the other hand, his deception and delusion are deeply concerning. Ultimately, his attempt to cover up his past and reinvent himself leads to his untimely death, highlighting the dangers of living a life based on appearances rather than authenticity.
